Randy Parker's many stops along the way also included, college radio 90.1 FM WUSB, Stony Brook, NY in the early 1980s, Invited by Station General Manager, Norman Prusslin who was interested in Randy’s polyphonic program concept. DJ Randy Parker gained popularity and eventually prompted the attention of Ken Spider Webb and Vaughn Harper who visited Parker after a WBLS Sure Shots basketball game against S.U.N.Y. at Stony brook. 

 

Randy Parker also co-produced and hosted "The Reggae Connection" with executive producer, Milton Williams of Combination Records in the mid 1980s. With studios located in Richmond, VA, The Reggae Connection aired exclusively in London, England and the ladies we are told, loved Randy Parkers Brooklyn accent. 

 

DJ Randy Parker is most noted for the "Weekend Traffic Jam" radio program that moved from WNWK to AM 1430 WNJR in Newark, NJ. Parker's program was often engineered by Larry Burke or the famous Jerry Love. During this time period AM 1430 WNJR was owned by Douglas Broadcasting which did not subscribe to Arbitron however, as per the station's General Sales Manager; Stevonne Wilson Sampson, Parker's "Weekend Traffic Jam" program somehow got picked up, showing a 1.2 share during his time slot, Fridays from 5:00 pm and everyone was excited. Randy Parker's co-host and public relations manager, Geri Clark of Guttenberg, NJ handled public relations for the show. Parker attributed much of the show’s success to Ms. Clark’s hard work, extra effort and sexy "on-air" voice. 

 

Some of Randy Parker's hottest "live-in-studio" guest stars included: Harold Melvin of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, Denise La Salle, Tyrone Davis, promoter Cat Campbell, Brian Edmundson, aka L’rae, Jersey City Council Woman Willie Flood, Louis Manzo, Jersey City mayor; Glenn Cunningham (RIP), and the "Candy Licker", Marvin Sease to name a few. 

 

Randy has D-Jayed as an opener for Chaka Kahn and The Brothers Johnson live at Stony Brook and Kool and the Gang at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ back in the day. He won DJ of the year for three straight years according to Cliff Ewing, former publisher of New York's, "Big Apple After Five" newspaper.
